This hike was organized to honor the memory of my aunt, Joanne Wood. She lost her long and brave battle with breast cancer in October of 2006. She was a stong willed, compassionate woman who would have done anything to prevent anyone else from hearing those terrible words, "You have breast cancer". The Breast Cancer Fund is dedicated to eliminating environmental - and preventable - causes of the disease.
As a survivor myself, I know first hand how important hope is when you are battling this disease. The Wellness Community is dedicated to providing free emotional support, education and hope for people with cancer and their loved ones. They were there for me. With fundraising events like this one, they can be there to support many more of the people in our community.
Please join us for a fun day to support these outstanding charities.

Kim Lahn - Event Organizer
Event Organizers
Kim Lahn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 and has been cancer free since then. She has volunteered and coordinated for other large breast cancer events over the years. She realized there were few events that supported prevention of breast cancer rather than the treatment of breast cancer. In addition, during her personal bout with breast cancer, she was introduced to the Wellness Community - Arizona. The support they provided was priceless.
Jackie Gully is our volunteer coordinator. She has been involved with and headed up many volunteer projects through NCL and on her own. There are 4 members of her family (Aunt Joanne being one of them) and several friends that have been affected by breast cancer. Preventing breast cancer for future generations is a passion as she has two beautiful daughters. Her dedication, drive, passion, and attention to detail make her essential to the success of the hike.
Fred Lahn started his career with the hike as a B'reast Stop volunteer. Little did he know two years later he would be taking on a new and demanding role as the logistics coordinator of the hike. His attention to detail and his intensity make him perfect for this role. He is also pleasant, fun, and a little crazy; which makes for an excellent combination for a very busy role. He has been a volunteer and participant in several charity events over the years. This past year he and Kim got married, so he has a vested interest in the hike and "Saving the TaTa's".
There are many other friends who have been there since the beginning to support and make this hike possible. We are a completely volunteer run event and could not do it without the fantastic volunteers and sponsors!
